Tile Guide

If you are looking for a floor that is both versatile in application as well as style, then consider tile flooring. Its unmatched durability as well as unique style is what makes tile such a popular option in virtually any room of your home. In addition, tile comes in a variety of price ranges to help fit your budget. Kenny’s Carpet One Floor & Home has what you need when it comes to tile.

Although you most commonly see tile installed as a floor, you can also install tile on your walls. Wall tile, or backsplash tile, adds a splash of design on an otherwise mundane and plain wall. Not only that but it protects your walls from accidental floor splatter in the kitchen, and is incredibly easy to care for. There are even tile options strong enough to handle being installed outside as a patio. Visit our showroom in Carmel, NY for our full selection of ceramic, porcelain, and stone tile flooring.

Types of Tile Flooring

There are three types of tile options for you to choose from which includes porcelain, ceramic, and stone. You’ll commonly see porcelain and ceramic tile in bathroom or kitchen settings. Ceramic tile comes in a large variety of styles and colors for you to choose from, and its great for kitchens. Porcelain tile is baked at a higher temperature, making them denser and dimensionally stable, so you can install them in heavily used areas of your home.

Stone tile is a natural material and is incredibly durable. Stone is usually treated and sealed to protect against spills, stains, and scratches, so it will last a long time if properly maintained.

Where Can Tile Be Installed?

Tile can stand up to heavy foot traffic and humid environments. We recommend tile for kitchen and bathroom flooring. It can also be installed outdoors.

If you choose to install tile in a place with high moisture, make sure that the tile is rated for your particular moisture or foot traffic requirements. Ask one of our flooring professional which type of tile is right for your needs and lifestyle.

Tile can also be installed on the walls of your kitchen as well as in shower stalls. Wall tile and shower tile are both made of different materials. Wall tile is much smaller and light weight, whereas shower tile comes in larger formats and are textured for more slip resistance.
